On 19 and 20 February 2016, IKEA organised the Democratic Design Days (#DDDZurich) at Kunsthaus Zurich. With partners like the Ikea Foundation Switzerland and ‘What Design Can Do’ from the Netherlands we spent two great days discussing the impact of design on the everyday life of the many people.

Marcus Engman (Head of Design IKEA), the philosopher Alain de Botton, Start-up investor Patricia Roller and designer Jon Kuster took the chance and expressed what constitutes democratic design and what impact it can have as a concept far beyond just making inexpensive products.
